This Richard Curtis 10:10 global warming spot will get your attention:

Thompson on Hollywood
10:10 founder and Age of Stupid filmmaker Franny Armstrong tells The Guardian:

Doing nothing about climate change is still a fairly common affliction, even in this day and age. What to do with those people, who are together threatening everybody's existence on this planet? Clearly we don't really think they should be blown up, that's just a joke for the mini-movie, but maybe a little amputating would be a good place to start?"

    What a great marketing ploy.

See the teacher, CEO, etc. bullying the people into line; then using lethal force to enforce their will? Awesome.

Everyone knows you root for the bully to beat or kill the underdog; nobody wants the underdog to win; right?

Oh, not everybody knows that? Hmm, maybe not a great plan then.

"Nobody is actually saying anyone should be blown up. "

"maybe a little amputating would be a good place to start?" HA.

Maybe we should start witht eh heads of all the 10:10 supporters... then we'd have fewer obnoxious people and less CO2... win-win. What, I can't use dark humor calling for the death of all those who oppose me?

I thought calling for the death of someone who disagrees with you was declared "funny" now.

"This is a message to the whole world about those responsible for climate change and its repercussions - whether intentionally or unintentionally - and about the action we must take" ... "Speaking about climate change is not a matter of intellectual luxury - the phenomenon is an actual fact." - Osama Bin Laden, 2010.

BWAHAHAHA, that dude is Hysterical; calling for people to be blown up and stuff. He's a laugh riot.

Wait, he's NOT funny? Damn, you're changing the rules again.

All right, I've calmed down - a bit. (I was in a state of rage for quite a while.) I can accept that the filmmakers weren't terrorists - just morons who thought a funny video along the lines of 'Join us, or we'll kill you and your children' would encourage us to go along with them, as opposed to wanting to wipe them and their ideology from the face of the planet.

Nonetheless, anyone today knows that all ideological 'pressure' groups have their contingent of mass-murderers. I've heard enough recorded conversations from the animal-rights lobby, for example, to know that many of them pray for a day of wholesale slaughter of the Unbelievers, as much as any religious zealot. I honestly believe the 'Green terror' may start in the next few years, probably with a 9/11 spectacular that will kill thousands of men, women and children (and have the 'mainstream' Greens saying piously that they neither condemn nor condone the action).

In that context, any 'funny' video that says, 'Obey us, or we'll kill you' has me longing to tear off someone's head and smash it on the pavement.

Robert Houston, Jr. - The existence of the Club of Rome does not prove that environmentalism is a con job. Their findings are still backed up by science, even if their agenda might be somewhat troubling.

Secondly, it seems highly unlikely to me that Henry Kissinger, George Mitchell and Bill Clinton would be sitting on a board whose ultimate goal was socialism. If they're looking to replace democracy with anything, it's corporate imperialism. That is, after all, the trend we're seeing, right?

Its going to be interesting to watch, say 5 or 10 years from now, when all this bullcrap about climate change is taken about as serious as the Y2k threat a few years back. The planet warming up a bit will not be a bad thing. Its funny how they say Greenhouse gasses are so bad, I looked in a greenhouse the other day, and damn if everything in there wasn't growing like crazy.... ignorant doomsayers.... Every few years a bunch of the brainwashed masses thinks that they are the SPECIAL generation that will save the world.... blah, blah, hogwash.... self-deluded, in their self-righteousness rage, they will become more and more desperate as their self-imposed deadline looms closer and closer and the illusion of man-made climate change is seen as the manipulation of thought to usher in a world government controlling EVERY aspect of your life. That is what the Green Movement is really about. Google Club of Rome 1968. The Environmental Movement is a conjob. Plain and simple, once you do a little research and Think for yourself. Reject Socialism. Live Free!

I stuck in the youtube version. Thanks DC.

Anyone living in the United Kingdom should notify the police concerning this video.

This video is a direct threat to murder those who disagree with environmentalism. They must be arrested, they must be imprisoned.

When I try to play that video, all I get is this weird message:

"This is a private video. If you have been sent this video, please make sure to accept the sender's friend request."

What is that, some kind of Facebook thing? Is that the latest Facebook pressure tactic: if you don't sign up, you can't see videos?

Andrew, I'm assuming your joking... That, or incredibly thick...

I mean, granted, the film is a little too didactic and smug to be REALLY funny, but since when is blowing people up not good for a chuckle...?

  • andrew | October 1, 2010 5:07 AMReply

Will contact the police this morning - the video is an incitement to mass murder, and Franny Armstrong is a terrorist who should be arrested at once.

  • M | October 1, 2010 3:43 AMReply

It would certainly be preferable to those same zealots actually DOING it. See, Donna...

(And I can't believe I have to say this...)

It's satire. What makes it funny is that it's an exaggeration. It's removed from reality. Nobody is actually saying anyone should be blown up. In fact, in the pullquote directly under the video, Armstrong says, "We don’t really think they should be blown up." Was that too much reading for you?

Your scenario wouldn't be funny because many religious zealots actually DO murder gay people. And many that don't still advocate killing them. It stops being satire and starts being an ACTUAL incitement to violence (pay attention here, Andrew), rather than a SATIRICAL one.

It would be like me saying that people who don't get satire should have their media viewing privileges revoked. Obviously, I don't really think that.

    Or do I...?

  • Donna Laframboise | October 1, 2010 2:15 AMReply

I'm sure this video would be equally amusing if it showed religious zealots - either Christian or Muslim - blowing up gays.
