The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences will announce the nominations for the 85th Academy Awards on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, about a week earlier than usual, and the Oscar telecast on ABC will take place on Sunday, February 24th. This is within the usual time frame, despite reports that the Kudocast might be moved earlier. Electronic ballots may be introduced this year. The 2012 Oscar nominations were announced on January 24.

And the Academy will not be exiting what was called the Kodak Theater in favor of moving downtown, as some had speculated. The ceremony will be held in the same venue, now known as the Hollywood & Highland Center.
