The deadline is looming for animated feature entries for the Academy Awards. For an animated feature to qualify for the 85th Academy Awards, filmmakers must submit their entries with supporting materials by 5 p.m. PT on Thursday, November 1.

We'll know the final five nominations (assuming there are at least 16 eligible submissions) for the 85th Academy Awards when they are announced on Thursday, January 10, 2013.

Bill Desowitz goes over the animation contenders here; I get into them here.

The live Oscar telecast on ABC is on February 24th.
