Watch: Ben Stiller and Director Jay Roach Dissect the Art of Comedy Directing in Tribeca Directors Series (VIDEO)

Last weekend at the Tribeca Film Festival, frequent collaborators Ben Stiller and director/producer Jay Roach -- who worked together on the comedy franchise films "Meet the Parents" and "Meet the Fockers" -- sat down to talk about past and future projects, including Stiller's "Secret Life of Walter Mitty," which judging from the footage screened at CinemaCon, could be a serious Oscar contender.

Ben Stiller and His Penis Saluted By Friends and Colleagues at American Cinematheque Ball

Ben Stiller's friends and colleagues raucously celebrated the actor/comedian's career at the American Cinematheque's yearly benefit ball at the Beverly Hilton Thursday night. Pals who showed up to give sincere or more often, irreverent, in-person tributes were Jennifer Aniston, Will Ferrell, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Jack Black, Patton Oswalt, Laura Dern, Andy Dick, David Cross, Stiller's wife Christine Taylor and "Tropic Thunder" co-writer Justin Theroux (who was responsible for the tribute video that is captured in part below).

During last week's The New Yorker Festival 2012, Ben Stiller and Letter from California columnist Tad Friend talked backstage about the magazine's recent profile of the actor, comedian, writer and director (clip below). They got along, apparently, although both mentioned nursing migraines after a four to five hour interview.

American Cinematheque vs. American Film Institute: One's Young, the Other Isn't

Bravo to the American Cinematheque for singling out a comedian, Ben Stiller, for its 26th annual achievement award. He is more than worthy. But this choice does serve to highlight the growing gap between the Cinematheque tribute, which tends to veer toward stars in their moneymaking prime, and the American Film Institute achievement award, which often hits stars at the senior end of their career trajectory.
