Immersed in Movies: 'Oblivion' Director Kosinski Talks Creating Original Sci-Fi Landscape Starring Cruise

With a looming summer season packed with post-apocalyptic sci-fi--from "After Earth" (June 7) and "World War Z" (June 21) to "Elysium" (August. 9)--it's a good thing that director Joseph Kosinski's "Oblivion" is first out of the gate. This Tom Cruise-starrer about a blue collar drone repairman haunted by dreams of a woman he's never met stands apart from the competition, mainly because architect and video game designer Kosinski's follow-up to "Tron: Legacy" is a passion project he's been developing for eight years that allows him to strut his visual stuff.

Casting Watch UPDATE: Morgan Freeman On Board for Wally Pfister's 'Transcendence,' Starring Depp, Hall, Bettany and Mara

The cast continues to grow for Wally Pfister's directorial debut, "Transcendence." Morgan Freeman is in final talks to star alongside Johnny Depp, Rebecca Hall, Paul Bettany and Kate Mara. The sci-fi film centers on a scientist (Depp) whose brain is posthumously uploaded to a supercomputer.

Sony Movie Channel Honors Black History Month with Tuesday Night Double-Features Showcasing Poitier, Freeman, Washington and Pryor

In recognition of Black History Month, the Sony Movie Channel is dedicating its Tuesday night "Take Two" programming to films featuring African-American stars. The films in each double feature block are linked by actor -- Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington, Sidney Poitier and Richard Pryor all get their own themed evenings.
