More and more, film festivals are relying on more than film programming to lure audiences. The expansive Toronto International Film Festival is no exception. This year's Mavericks lineup of eight speakers in a Q & A format is high profile indeed. Perhaps to make up for world premiering "Wild" at Telluride, producer-star Reese Witherspoon will do a conversation about that dilm and "The Good Lie."

Fox Searchlight is officially throwing "Wild," starring Reese Witherspoon, into this year's Oscar game. The film has been given a December 5, 2014 release date, right in the prime spot for awards season attention.

Image Nabs Atom Egoyan's West Memphis Three Drama 'Devil's Knot,' Starring Firth and Witherspoon

Image Entertainment has tied up rights for "Devil's Knot," the Atom Egoyan true-crime thriller that debuted last month at TIFF. An all-star cast led by Reese Witherspoon and Colin Firth rehash the much-publicized story of the West Memphis Three, who were wrongly sentenced for the murders of three children in Memphis.
