Review: Lars von Trier's 'Nymphomaniac: Volume II'

In the grim second volume of Lars von Trier's erotic epic "Nymphomaniac," the great Dane dares us once again to sympathize with a morally monstrous antiheroine -- here, in the form of Joe, as played by Charlotte Gainsbourg, who's game for anything and everything for the role. Watch it now on VOD before it hits theaters April 4.

Review: Lars von Trier's 'Nymphomaniac' Volume I

In Lars von Trier’s “Nymphomaniac Volume I,” a bruised and battered woman, Joe (Charlote Gainsbourg), recounts her lifelong misadventures of nymphomania to a lonely man (Stellan Skarsgard). He continually interrupts her to point out how her sordid tales parallel that of river trout. He’s intellectualizing her sex addiction, in a wickedly humorous way, which is indeed what “Nymphomaniac” is doing, too. The film opens in theaters Friday, March 21 and is now on VOD.

It has finally come. The unrated "Volume I" of Lars von Trier's erotic opus "Nymphomaniac" arrives in 25 US theaters this Friday March 21. But you may have already seen the saucy, hotly debated, artsy sex epic on VOD, as Magnolia Pictures made the film available on March 7 on cable on demand, Amazon and a smattering of other platforms. "Volume II" hits VOD this Thursday, March 20, with theatrical release to follow April 4.

Berlin: Shia LaBeouf Has Started Something

Today, Nadine Krüger, a television personality for Bild, Germany’s largest newspaper, donned a bag for her report from the Berlinale. This was of course a response to Shia LaBeouf's red-carpet walk Sunday wearing a paper bag over his head with text reading, “I am not famous anymore.”

Berlin: What Shia LaBeouf Said Before He Stalked Out of the 'Nymphomaniac' Press Conference (UPDATED)

During the press conference for “Nymphomaniac Volume 1 (Long Version),” screened at the Berlin Film Festival Sunday, Shia LaBeouf sat silently and oh-so-mysteriously with a cap down over his eyes. When a journalist asked him and Stacy Martin about their sex scenes – how much preparation did they have, was it difficult, etc., LaBeouf directed Martin to go first.

Is Shia LaBeouf Angling for 'Fifty Shades of Grey'? Actor Tweets Nude Pic of Himself to Promote 'Charlie Countryman'

As Charlie Hunnam gets cold feet about "Fifty Shades of Grey," and Focus is auditioning lesser known actors, it seems like Shia Labeouf is angling for the Christian Grey role. Why? Because one year after going full-frontal for a Sigur Ros video, the actor is up to his nude antics again by tweeting a naked picture of himself.

WATCH: Shia Labeouf Gets Devious in New Clip from Lars Von Trier's 'Nymphomaniac'

Check out this humorous new "appetizer" clip from Lars Von Trier's upcoming two-part film "Nymphomaniac," starring Shia Labeouf and Charlotte Gainsbourg. No, we don't yet get any peeks at Labeouf's nether regions (though they're freely on display in Sigur Ros' "Fjogur piano"), but we do hear him try out a Brit accent, and see his character Jerome's rather devious attempt at getting a comely new employee alone in an elevator.
