Miami Film Fest: Plummer & MacLaine Star in 'Elsa & Fred'

“Elsa & Fred” starring Shirley MacLaine and Christopher Plummer will certainly be looking for support among the “Marigold Hotel” crowd, but Michael Radford’s sentimental but candid story about late-inning love got a roaring response at the Miami Film Festival on opening night.

'Downton Abbey' Season Three Premiere Scores 7.9 Million Viewers

Even with the ending of the entire "Dowton Abbey" third season spoiled by many who read news accounts of one key cast member's departure from the series, which has already concluded in the UK, the PBS "Masterpiece Classic" debut on Sunday drew a preliminary Nielsen average of 7.9 million viewers. The new season adds Shirley MacLaine as Elizabeth McGovern's mother, who gives dowager Maggie Smith a run for her money.

Filming Begins for MacLaine and Plummer's 'Elsa & Fred' Remake: Cast Includes Brolin, Harden, Noth & Gilman

Joining the cast of Michael Radford's remake of "Elsa & Fred," starring Shirley MacLaine and Christopher Plummer, are Marcia Gay Harden, Chris Noth, Jared Gilman, James Brolin, George Segal, Wendell Pierce, Reg Rogers, and Erika Alexander. The film just kicked off production in New Orleans.
