Should Brit Star Tom Hiddleston Take on Country Icon Hank Williams?

As high as I am on Tom Hiddleston, the idea of him playing all-American country music icon Hank Williams gives me pause. Somehow this role should go to an American actor. This casting feels like a foreign sales decision. Hiddleston, who is bankable thanks to playing Loki in two Thor films and 'The Avengers," is set to play Williams in writer-director Marc Abraham's "I Saw the Light," based on Colin Escott’s biography. Via Sony ATV, the biopic has secured rights to the Williams music catalogue including such hits as “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry,” “Hey Good Lookin’” and “Your Cheatin’ Heart.”

Comic-Con's Marvel Panel Stars 'Thor''s Loki, 'Captain America''s Evans & Johansson (VIDEOS)

Nobody understands the Comic-Con demo better than Marvel production chief Kevin Feige, who knows how to create material that will please these fans. In Hall H you can see that he gets it. He's giving them what they want. He's not shoving something down their throat with scads of advertising dollars, not wowing them with a great VFX trailer. He's bringing to life beloved characters who exist inside a well-considered consistent universe. So when Tom Hiddleston turns up in full Loki regalia and exhorts "the arena that is known as Hall H" to become his army--"where are your Avengers now?"--the crowd ate it up (see that video and all the panel videos below).
