'Men In Black III' Reviews: Better Than The Second, But Still Irrelevant

The arrival of "Men in Black III" on May 25 is exciting mostly because Will Smith hasn't been on the big screen since 2008's "Seven Pounds." Bill Desowitz also finds it's 3-D a revelation for the comedy genre...

Cannes Market, New Image: 'Emperor' with Tommy Lee Jones

"Emperor," Peter Webber's political thriller centers on the tensions and uncertainties in the days just after the Japanese surrender at the end of World War II. It's currently at the Cannes Market. General Douglas MacArthur (Tommy Lee Jones, new picture above) is the de facto ruler of Japan, as the Supreme Commander of the occupying forces.  A member of his staff and leading Japanese expert General Bonner Fellers (Matthew Fox) is charged with reaching a decision of historical importance: should Emperor Hirohito be tried and hanged as a war criminal? TOH's earlier write-up of "Emperor" explores director Peter Webber's career trajectory.  Webber previously directed "The Girl with a Pearl Earring," as well as episodes of HBO's "Six Feet Under."

Immersed in Movies: Talking 3-D with 'Men in Black 3' Director Barry Sonnenfeld

I recently sat down for a private 3-D demo of "Men in Black 3" with director Barry Sonnenfeld, and the first thing that dawned on me was that there haven't been any noteworthy 3-D comedies during this current renaissance. It's all been shock and awe so far.
