Why is Sam Mendes back in New York with "Cabaret?" Michelle Williams. She's the talk of the town as she makes her Broadway debut as song-and-dance ingenue Sally Bowles opposite Alan Cumming in Roundabout's revival of the dark musical "Cabaret," directed by Mendes, a prolific stage director before foraying into film with his Oscar-winning debut "American Beauty" in 1999. (Watch a clip from "Cabaret" below.) While many Hollywood stars are packing up their bags and moving to television, a few A-listers are heading to a new arena: Broadway.

Sundance: Focus Features Nabs Zach Braff's Kickstarted 'Wish I Was Here'

Focus Features has scooped up North American and international rights to Zach Braff's "Wish I Was Here," which premiered January 18 at Sundance. The film is his follow-up to "Garden State," which he controversially Kickstarted, crowd-funding more than $3 million for the project.

Sundance 2014 Reveals Zach Braff's Kickstarted Film 'Wish I Was Here' Now Added to Premieres Section

Sundance has added one late-breaking title to its Premieres section of the upcoming 2014 fest: Zach Braff's "Wish I Was Here," which he funded partially via Kickstarter. Meanwhile, Kevin Smith's cult classic "Clerks" has been added as a From the Collection midnight screening. The 2014 Festival runs January 16-26 in Park City, Salt Lake City, Ogden and Sundance, Utah.

Zach Braff Nabs Millions in Traditional Funding for Kickstarter-Funded 'Wish I Was Here,' Casts Anna Kendrick UPDATE

UPDATE: Zach Braff's successful if controversial Kickstarter campaign for his next project "Wish I Was Here" -- which has raised over $2.6 million still with days to go -- has now helped the writer-director to land millions of dollars in traditional funding for the project, from Worldview Entertainment. The budget of the film is reportedly less than $10 million, with funds coming from Kickstarter, and gap funds from Worldview and foreign pre-sales from Wild Bunch.
