AFI Fest 2010 announces their Special Presentations, including the LAT's Young Hollywood Roundtable with Carey Mulligan, Jesse Eisenberg and Andrew Garfield (7pm, Nov. 5 at The Egyptian), Cinema's Legacy with Screenwriter Aaron Sorkin (2pm, Nov. 7 at The Egyptian), On Acting: A Conversations with Halle Berry (Nov. 9, 7pm, Grauman's Chinese), a 3-D Bootcamp with a preview of select TRON: Legacy footage (10am, Nov. 10 at Mann's Chinese), and a "Secret Screening" of a soon-to-be-released film which will be announced the day of (9:30pm, Nov. 9, 9:30 at Grauman's Chinese). Additional free tickets are released today for these events, go to AFI Fest for more.

Thompson on Hollywood

Born and raised in Manhattan, Anne Thompson grew up going to the Thalia and The New Yorker and wound up at grad Cinema Studies at NYU. She worked at United Artists and Film Comment before heading west as that magazine's west coast editor. She wrote for the LA Weekly, Sight and Sound, Empire, The New York Times and Entertainment Weekly before serving as West Coast Editor of Premiere. She wrote for The Washington Post, The London Observer, Wired, More, and Vanity Fair, and did staff stints at The Hollywood Reporter and Variety. She eventually took her blog Thompson on Hollywood to Indiewire. She taught film criticism at USC Critical Studies, and continues to host the fall semester of “Sneak Previews” for UCLA Extension.
