UPDATE: While Telluride's secret line-up will not be announced until Labor Day Weekend, word is "The Master" will also play Toronto and in all likehood, Fantastic Fest. This fall, Weinstein has plenty of high-profile projects to juggle as well, from David O. Russell's "The Silver Linings Playbook" to December 25 opener "Django Unchained," written and directed by Quentin Tarantino.
Other titles that will be vying for La Biennale de Venezia’s Golden Lion include Olivier Assayas’ “Something In The Air,” Takeshi Kitano’s “Outrage: Beyond,” Kim Ki-duk’s “Pieta,” Harmony Korine’s “Spring Breakers,” Brillante Mendoza’s “Thy Womb” and Brian De Palma’s “Passion,” which stars Rachel McAdams (also in the Malick film) and Noomi Rapace. Variety originally reported "The Master" as part of the line-up, then backpeddled; the trade also added an Israeli academic as co-director with rookie filmmaker Rama Burshtein (not Burzstyn) for "Fill the Void."

I can see that now Jordan, but I believe that at the time this was posted the film had not been confirmed as being part of the Venice Festival (you can check this by reading the first news about the initial line-up in numerous sites, including the site of the festival). Fortunately enough, "The Master" is now confirmed so we will have an even better competition. And congratulations Mr Mueller, you must have great informants. Cheers!

I am sorry Mr. Mueller, but I just checked and Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master" is not (unfortunately) part of the competition in Venice this year.. You should read the full-list two or three times before posting such a headline..
