"Witnesses," named Best Pilot at the inaugural SeriesFest

SeriesFest, one of several independent TV festivals highlighting the growth of indie TV in recent years, is now accepting submissions for its second edition, June 22-26, 2016 in Denver, Colo. The deadline for submitting pilots (via Withoutabox) is February 15; full guidelines are available at the festival's website. SeriesFest is also accepting half-hour comedic script submissions for its Storytellers Initiative,  where finalists will have the opportunity to win a development deal and a professionally produced pilot presentation, valued at $60,000.

SeriesFest 2015 (watch the highlight reel above) featured 26 independent pilots in competition, nine major network premieres and sneak previews, panel discussions with industry insiders, and performances by Whitney Cummings and John Legend. The winning pilot, "Witnesses," received an exclusive deal with Comcast on Demand. The festival's advisory board includes Amy Harris ("Sex and the City") Josh Charles ("The Good Wife"), Randy Zisk ("Monk"), and Tom McGowan ("Frasier").
