Awards Votes Ahead

Several key awards group votes are coming up in the next week. Monday Sunday brings The National Society of Film Critics, which is less influential than LA or NY, but could boost a few causes. (Awards Daily lists past winners.) The ten Producer's Guild nominees will be announced on Tuesday, January 5. On Thursday come the Directors Guild nominations, followed by the Writers Guild on Monday the 11th. The guilds give a fairly accurate reflection of where the winds are blowing with Academy voters, while the Golden Globes Awards (which I will be covering on January 17) have some influence in terms of winning momentum.

    Anne ... Since you're following the awards build-up a closer than I am, do you have any idea why "Inglourious Basterds," "Jennifer's Body," and "Me and Orson Welles" are NOT on the list of eligible WGA nominees? (NB: three of my 2009 favorites). It can't be that they've all had contretemps with the Guild, or can it?
