The project is a team-up between companies Cross Creek Pictures and Smuggler Films.

"Beautiful Ruins" was named one of the best books of 2012 by Entertainment Weekly, the New York Times, Amazon and NPR.

Field reportedly also has "A Creed of Violence" in the pipeline for 2014, based on Boston Terran's novel that takes place during the Mexican Revolution in 1910.
