TOH! Lists the Ten Best Films of 2013... So Far

As the Film Society of Lincoln Center unveils their Best Movies of 2013 (So Far) list, we here at TOH! are joining in on the fun and compiling our own lists showcasing the top ten titles of the first half of the year. Films are limited to those already released theatrically in 2013. See our selections, plus trailers and clips, below.

As the Film Society of Lincoln Center unveils their Best Movies of 2013 (So Far) list, we here at TOH! are joining in on the fun and compiling our own lists showcasing the top ten titles of the first half of the year. Films are limited to those already released theatrically in 2013--hence the foreign titles that graced festivals last year. See our selections, plus trailers and clips, below. 

The Film Society's No. 1 film is Anne's top pick, Richard Linklater's deserving "Before Midnight," which made it into three different lists, albeit at varying ranks. We all have different films at No. 1.

Thompson on Hollywood

Born and raised in Manhattan, Anne Thompson grew up going to the Thalia and The New Yorker and wound up at grad Cinema Studies at NYU. She worked at United Artists and Film Comment before heading west as that magazine's west coast editor. She wrote for the LA Weekly, Sight and Sound, Empire, The New York Times and Entertainment Weekly before serving as West Coast Editor of Premiere. She wrote for The Washington Post, The London Observer, Wired, More, and Vanity Fair, and did staff stints at The Hollywood Reporter and Variety. She eventually took her blog Thompson on Hollywood to Indiewire. She taught film criticism at USC Critical Studies, and continues to host the fall semester of “Sneak Previews” for UCLA Extension.
