The BFI London Film Festival, in its 55th year, will close its fifteen-day festival (October 12-27) with the UK premiere of Terence Davies' The Deep Blue Sea. Rachel Weisz, Tom Hiddleston and Simon Russell Beale star in the intense 50s drama, which will premiere in September in Toronto. Based on Terence Rattigan's play (here's a 1998 NYMag review), Weisz plays Hester Collyer, the wife of a high court judge (Beale), who leaves him for her lover (Hiddleston), an ex-RAF pilot...

The film's producers, Sean O'Connor and Kate Ogborn, are "deeply honored," adding that "it's very much a London-based film, so it feels just right for the film's first UK outing to be at this wonderful festival. It’s a particular pleasure for us to introduce a new film by Terence Davies - returning to the period and themes of his most celebrated work. All in all, for many reasons, it feels like coming home." Davies says its "sheer heaven" to have his film close the festival, prior to its theatrical release, November 25.

The full slate of the BFI London Film Festival will be announced September 7.

Cougar or not, Rachel Weisz is not only more beautiful than most of the actreses working that are younger but she's ten times the actor.

A lot of people don’t know that she is a cougar in this film. Tom Hiddleston is 30 and she is 41.
