Black Swan supporting actress Mila Kunis sits down with MCN's David Poland to discuss the film, working with Darren Aronofsky, and shares her views on what it means to be "a celebrity." Kunis also tells E! that, after dropping to 95 lbs for the film, she understands both the up-side and down-side to being sickly-skinny, and why Hollywood encourages it:

"I could see why this industry is so fucked up, because at 95 pounds, I would literally look at myself in the mirror and I was like, Oh my God!" she says. "I had no shape, no boobs, no ass…All you saw was bone. I was like, This looks gross…In real life, it looked disgusting…But in photographs and on film, it looked amazing…My mom freaked out…Everybody started panicking. She was like, 'You have to promise me this isn't going to affect you.' I was like, 'I promise it won't, but it might take me a little time to be OK with having a little more fat on me'...it took me five months to lose 20 pounds, but it took me just five days—days!—to gain it all back."

Thompson on Hollywood

Born and raised in Manhattan, Anne Thompson grew up going to the Thalia and The New Yorker and wound up at grad Cinema Studies at NYU. She worked at United Artists and Film Comment before heading west as that magazine's west coast editor. She wrote for the LA Weekly, Sight and Sound, Empire, The New York Times and Entertainment Weekly before serving as West Coast Editor of Premiere. She wrote for The Washington Post, The London Observer, Wired, More, and Vanity Fair, and did staff stints at The Hollywood Reporter and Variety. She eventually took her blog Thompson on Hollywood to Indiewire. She taught film criticism at USC Critical Studies, and continues to host the fall semester of “Sneak Previews” for UCLA Extension.
