Both Cooper and Sy had a big year in 2012, the former nominated for an Oscar in David O. Russell's "Silver Linings Playbook" and the latter starring in France's box office hit and Foreign-Language Oscar entry "The Intouchables." "Chef" would be Sy's first foray into an English-language project. Cooper can be seen in Cianfrance's "The Place Beyond the Pines" when it hits theaters on March 29.
"Chef," which is written by "Eastern Promises" screenwriter Steven Knight, was first unveiled at the American Film Market back in November. The Weinstein Company has both international and U.S. distribution rights, and is also producing.

This could be a good fit for Cooper who, as we know from that French video interview that went viral, speaks pretty good French. I assume the film is in English, but he could always show off his language skills in some of the Paris scenes.
