Director Bryan Singer took to a newly created Instagram account this week to celebrate a box office milestone for his "X-Men: Days of Future Past"--and to tease the first draft of a treatment for its sequel, "X-Men: Apocalypse."

"Days of Future Past" swept past "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" over the weekend to become the highest grossing film of the year: it's made a remarkable $712.7 million worldwide in just a little over a month.  To put that in perspective, the second most successful movie in the franchise, 2006's "X-Men: The Last Stand," grossed $459.3 globally.

Apparently in honor of the film's achievement--and to slake the thirst of X-Men fans worldwide--Singer created a new Instagram profile and post this photo of the first page of a treatment for "X-Men: Apocalypse":

In the (naturally well-framed) glimpse of "Apocalypse" that Singer shared, the June 6 treatment describes a battle scene set on the banks of the Nile involving the Four Horsemen, who were seen oh-so-briefly in the end credits of "Days of Future Past."

According to the shot, Singer is writing the treatment with "Days of Future Past" producer and screenwriter Simon Kinberg, as well as Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris, who penned "X-Men 2."  On his Twitter account, Singer posted a photo of himself working on the "Apocalypse" script with Kinberg and Dougherty--or rather, not working on it due to World Cup distraction:

Singer is expected to helm the "Days of Future Past" sequel, but his status as director has been somewhat up in the air recently due to a lawsuit he is facing for alleged sexual assault.

In a podcast with Jeff Goldsmith, Kinberg recently confirmed that "Apocalypse" would take place in 1983.  The film already has a release date: May 27, 2016.
