The Festival de Cannes pays tribute to the late director Claude Miller by booking his last film "Thérèse Desqueyroux," starring Audrey Tautou, for closing night. The director died on April 4 after finishing the final edit of the film.

Gilles Lellouche and Anaïs Demoustier costar in Miller's final film, which is an adaptation of François Mauriac’s novel “Thérèse Desqueyroux.” It will screen at the closing of the 65th Festival de Cannes on 27 May in the Grand Théâtre Lumière of the Palais des Festivals.

Claude Miller was formed as a filmmaker during the period of the politically engaged Nouvelle Vague, working as an assistant to François Truffaut. His films include "The Best Way to Walk" (1976), "The Grilling" (1981), "Deadly Run" (1983), "The Accompanist" (1992), "A Secret" (2007), the Prix Delluc-winning "The Hussy" (1985) and Cannes Jury Prize-winner "Class Trip" (1998).  Miller also chaired the Association of Filmmakers and Producers (Association des réalisateurs producteurs) and was active in the “Club des 13,” a think tank aimed at reforming French production.

The fest will announce its official selection on April 19.
