Academy Governors Pick November Award Winners: Katzenberg, Needham, Pennebaker and Stevens, Jr.

Wednesday night the Academy board of governors convened to pick this year's winners of the Academy's Governors Awards. DreamWorks animation czar Jeffrey Katzenberg will take home the coveted Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award on December 1.

European Film Academy Opens Vote for People's Choice Awards 2012

European Film Academy opened the vote for the 2012 People's Choice Awards and announced the roster of final films for the 2012 contest - including "The Artist," "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel," "The Iron Lady," and "In Darkness." The EFA invites audiences to weigh in, and if you're so inclined you can visit their site here to cast your ballot, and enter to win a trip to the 25th European Film Awards in Malta.

Zadan and Meron Talk Producing Oscars, Hugh Jackman, 'Smash' Season Two

Producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron have harbored the fantasy of producing the Oscars for a decade. "We've been saying 'one day, please God, let this happen,'" says Meron. "It's a once in a lifetime thing." Finally two days ago new Academy president Hawk Koch, who they got to know at the Producers Guild, called them up and gave them the job.

Producers Zadan and Meron Will Bring Music Back to the Oscars

Under new president Hawk Koch, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has gone with fresh blood to produce the 85th Academy Awards. Musical producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron ("Chicago") will produce the Oscar show set to air live on February 24 on ABC. Last year's show was produced by Brian Grazer and Don Mischer, who filled in after then-president Tom Sherak had to fire his controversial first choice, Brett Ratner. Host Eddie Murphy also left the show, replaced by stalwart Billy Crystal.

Stanley Kubrick Retrospective and Exhibition Comes to LA; Vote in Our Kubrick Poll

LACMA and The Academy will co-present the first US retrospective exhibition of Stanley Kubrick. The retrospective, which launched in Frankfurt and has toured Berlin, Melbourne, Ghent, Zurich, Rome, Paris, and Amsterdam, was developed in collaboration with the Kubrick Estate and the Deutsches Filmmuseum, Frankfurt, but will be designed specifically for LACMA by film production designer Patti Podesta.

Sundance Prize-Winner 'House I Live In' Heads for Cinemas: Jarecki Aims 'to reach as many Americans as I can'

It's taken a while, but filmmaker Eugene Jarecki has finally cobbled together his dream team to release his must-see Sundance Jury-Prize Winning doc "The House I Live In," an incisive and incendiary expose of America's war on drugs and prison system. The movie will hit cinemas on October 5.
