'Rango' Dominates Visual Effects Society Awards

"Rango" dominated the winners of the 10th Visual Effects Society (VES) awards in 23 categories of film, animation, television, commercials, special venues and video games with four awards, including outstanding visual effects in an animated motion picture.

Awards Box Office Update: Weinstein Releases Struggle

Oscar-nominated films grossed around $21 million this weekend, the lowest total for the second weekend after the nominations announcement in the last few years; the decline from last week was on a par with most of those years. Only “The Descendants” is enjoying clear success on a broad level, as “The Artist” continues to struggle.

Annies Go to 'Rango,' Art Directors Pick 'Hugo,' 'Dragon Tattoo,' 'Harry Potter'

It must be Oscar season. On one side of town, the Annies were given out (Oscar front runner "Rango" dominated the evening) while at the interminable Art Directors Guild Awards, for once "The Artist" didn't win anything, even with presenters James Cromwell and Penelope Ann Miller on hand.
