'Holy Motors' Best Film in Indiewire's Year-End Critics Poll; 'Zero Dark Thirty,' 'Sun Don't Shine,' 'This Is Not a Film' and More Recognized

Leos Carax's "Holy Motors" has been voted Best Film by the 2012 Indiewire year-end critics' poll. A broad sampling of print and online critics--about 200-- participated, including TOH's Anne Thompson, Indiewire's Eric Kohn, Alison Wilmore and Matt Singer, The New Yorker's Richard Brody and former L.A. Hollywood Pulls Back Premieres in Wake of Newtown, 'Django Unchained' Cancels

It happened after Columbine and Aurora and now Newtown is making Hollywood sensitive to celebrating. That is, in the week following the most horrific gun tragedy in America's history, Fox, Paramount and Weinstein Co. have pulled back several movie premieres.

Amazon Releases 2012 Bestsellers; Self-Publishing, Romance and Erotica Ruled

Amazon's 2012 list of bestsellers highlights the increasing impact of self-published authors and their relationship with traditional publishers. Four of the five romance titles on the list were originally independently published, and then scooped up by a traditional publisher that pushed the hot titles into the bestselling stratosphere.

The 2012 Black List of the Best Un-Produced Screenplays Will Be Revealed on Twitter

On Monday, Decemeber 17, the 2012 Black List will be announced via Twitter. The titles will be named in a random order every minute. Once all the titles have been named, the top 10 will be announced in reverse order. Then the complete list, along with loglines, will be available on the Black List's site.
