Aspen Shortsfest Celebrates 20 Years; Festival Runs April 10-15

The Aspen Shortsfest, celebrating its 20th year, runs in Colorado at the Wheeler Opera House April 10-15. Indiewire considers the fest one of the top 50 in the world, with its showcase of short drama, comedy, animation and documentary films. On March 14 the fest's full program will be announced here. Reeves Joins Actor-Director Gang with Chinese-Language 'Man of Tai Chi'

On February 28, Keanu Reeves began production in China on his directorial debut, "Man of Tai Chi." The Chinese-language film will shoot over six months in China and Hong Kong on a budget of $32 million. It is a contemporary action film; famed martial arts choreographer Yuen Woo-ping will work with Reeves, who stars in the film, as well as co-stars Tiger Chen and Karen Mok. The project is a co-production of China Film Group, Village Roadshow, Wanda Media and Universal (which will handle distribution).

IFP announced today that this year's installment of their popular writer/directors conference, Script to Screen, will be anchored by Oscar-nominated director Bennett Miller ("Moneyball"), and features up-and-coming directors Leslye Headland ("Bachelorette") and Ry Russo-Young ("Nobody Walks") as part of a Screenwriter's Roundtable discussion. The conference takes place March 17, and is presented in partnership with Writers Guild of America East, the New York Television Festival, and BookExpo America.
