Gore Verbinski and New Regency Bringing Graphic Novel 'Pyongyang' to Life

New Regency has acquired "Pyongyang," set up at director Gore Verbinski’s Blind Wink transmedia banner which also produced "Rango." The film is about a young animator sent to North Korea who is then accused of espionage.

Sony Movie Channel Honors Black History Month with Tuesday Night Double-Features Showcasing Poitier, Freeman, Washington and Pryor

In recognition of Black History Month, the Sony Movie Channel is dedicating its Tuesday night "Take Two" programming to films featuring African-American stars. The films in each double feature block are linked by actor -- Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington, Sidney Poitier and Richard Pryor all get their own themed evenings.

Weekend Recap: 'Inside Llewyn Davis' Update, New Trailers, Original 'X-Men' Returns, Ebert Oscar & Sundance Guides

- As we've already predicted, the Coens' "Inside Llewyn Davis" will likely premiere at Cannes, according to this NYTimes update. As we reported when we leaked the trailer, the movie will screen at the Sony lot for assorted music industry folks as well as potential buyers right before the Grammys. (No, we can't get in.) The film, about a West Village troubadour based on Dave Van Ronk, features Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, and Justin Timberlake - who will all sing.

Sundance 2012 Winner 'Valley of Saints' Goes to 108 Media / Paladin for Worldwide Rights

108 Media/Paladin has picked up worldwide rights to "Valley of Saints," winner of Sundance 2012's Audience Award and Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Feature Film Prize. The film, directed by Musa Syeed, played over fifty major festivals around the world and is now nominated for an Indie Spirit Award for Best Cinematography.
