After a long sojourn shooting films abroad, Woody Allen is coming home again. The good news after Allen's Oscar-winning "Midnight in Paris" grossed $155 million worldwide: he will shoot his next film in the U.S.

The Traditionalist: Christopher Nolan Prefers Film, One Camera, No 3-D

Chris Nolan is a traditionalist. The "Batman Begins," "Inception" and "The Dark Knight" director has candidly stated his preference for shooting 35 mm film with one camera rather than digital with many. He also recoils from 3-D and unrealistic CGI.

FilmDistrict Hires Studio-Exec Orr to Run Distribution

After the departure of indies Bob and Jeanne Berney from FilmDistrict, owner Graham King and CEO Peter Schlessel have been rethinking their distribution operation. Well, now they have added two key execs from the studios, distribution president Jim Orr and ex-DreamWorks marketing head Christine Birch as marketing president.

Sundance Artist Services Program Expands Self-Distribution Platforms

Amazon Instant Video, Hulu, iTunes, SundanceNow, YouTube, Netflix. These platforms are available now for the Sundance Institute Artist Services program, launched in January 2011. Now Sundance is expanding the self-distribution program, which is open to Sundance-affiliated indie filmmakers, to four new platforms.

Woody Allen Sends Some Roman Love To LA Film Fest

While Woody Allen is skipping Cannes--because "To Rome with Love" is opening April 20 in Italy--he's bringing "To Rome with Love" to Los Angeles to open the LA Film Festival on June 14. It will be its North American premiere.

CinemaCon Awards Go to Renner, Theron, Pfeiffer, Kitsch, Johnson, Katzenberg, Apatow

CinemaCon, NATO's annual exhibitor conference in Las Vegas, is shaping up. Starting April 23, CinemaCon will draw more than 5,000 global theater owners (from major chains to mom and pop theaters) as well as all six studios and a wide range of indies looking to promote their upcoming slates. CinemaCon's goal this year, especially, is to promote the moviegoing experience that seems under increasing duress.
