Elizabeth Gabler's Fox 2000 Nabs 'Hunger Games' Producer Nina Jacobson for First-Look Deal

Now Jacobson has landed something that's hard to come by these days: a three-year first-look studio production deal. She and partner Brad Simpson’s production company Color Force have signed with Fox 2000 Pictures chief Elizabeth Gabler ("The Devil Wears Prada," "Life of Pi").

Lionsgate Slots Tom Hardy Russia Thriller for Spring

What does it signify that Lionsgate and Summit are slotting director Daniel Espinosa's "Child 44" for spring release (April 17, 2015)? Given that Tom Hardy--probably the most exciting young actor working today--is not yet a guaranteed box office draw (see "Warriors," "Locke"), Lionsgate may have wanted to use the award season as a springboard for a complex World War II period thriller set in Stalinist Russia that is by no means a guaranteed commercial hit. (What is these days?)

'Harmontown,' SXSW Dan Harmon Doc, Will Open This Fall with New Podcast Tour (TRAILER)

Neil Berkeley's hilarious road documentary "Harmontown," which was a hit at SXSW 2014, will get a fall theatrical and VOD release in North America and the U.K. via The Orchard, an indie music, film and video distributor and multi-channel network. The film showcases "Community" creator Dan Harmon on tour with his podcast as well as Jason Sudeikis and Joel McHale, among others. Harmon prepped for "Community" by writing for shows such as “The Sarah Silverman Program” and the Jack Black/Ben Stiller pilot “Heat Vision and Jack.” Silverman, Black and Stiller also appear on the show.
