Netflix Sets Wachowskis Free with J. Michael Straczynski for New Original Content Series 'Sense8'

Video service Netflix continues to blaze trails in the original content game. In a brilliant move, the company has tapped the Wachowskis ("Cloud Atlas," "The Matrix") and "Babylon 5" creator Michael J. Straczynski to develop a new series, "Sense8." The few details we know about the project promise a ten-episode first season, available exclusively to Netflix members in late 2014, that spans a global tale of "minds linked and souls hunted."

'Top of the Lake' Recap 2: Bringing Out the Dead and Missing

While last week's two-hour premiere of "Top of the Lake" dealt with the blunt one-two shock of a pregnant pre-teen girl and then her disappearance, this week's episode deals with the classic detective-story trope of obsession with a missing person. As is often the case, an obsession with the missing brings out an obsession with the dead.

Inside the Actor's Studio Interview with Tina Fey's Sarah Palin [Video]

Tina Fey's Sarah Palin is the impersonation that may have brought down a Vice Presidential candidacy and Fey brought it back with gumption on "Inside the Actor's Studio." With a strong background in improv and an exceptional resemblance to the former Alaska Governor, Fey played it perfectly, jumping right into Palin with folksy nonsense and a twinkle in her eye.

HBO's Accidental Feminism, From Lena Dunham's Hannah Horvath to Laura Dern's Amy Jellicoe

With the recent finale of the second season of “Girls,” and the “Enlightened” season finale still resonating in my mind, I’ve been thinking more and more about the characters from both shows. The upcoming new season of “Veep” is only a few weeks away, too, and, even though it’s a more stylized comedy half-hour, it’s another example of what I’ve come to think of as HBO’s inadvertent nod to feminist sensibilities; these three shows have female protagonists who are far from lovable -- but we love them. What’s going on here?

Farewell to HBO's Under-Appreciated 'Enlightened'

The reaction on the Twittersphere was immediate and noisy to HBO's announcement that it was killing the critically praised but underwatched tragi-comedy "Enlightened," starring Laura Dern (who won a Golden Globe for her turn as sunny but frustrated corporate employee Amy Jellicoe), Mike White (creator of the series), Luke Wilson, Timm Sharp and Diane Ladd.

'Top of the Lake' Recap 1: A Brilliant Beginning to Jane Campion's Dark, Deep and Dreamlike Mystery

“Top of the Lake,” the new Sundance Channel miniseries created, written and directed in part by Jane Campion, is a masterfully twisty creation that floats just out of the reach of comfortable comprehension. Its characters, united in the search for a missing girl against an ominous backdrop of awesome scenery and local misogyny, move through scenes that are at once anchored in the real and yet have a dreamlike quality.

Trailer Watch: 'Game of Thrones' Will Have a 'Beast' of a Third Season

I am not alone in eagerly awaiting the arrival of "Game of Thrones" Season Three on March 31. The new trailer has landed, titled "The Beast." Clearly, just as the first two seasons were jampacked with astonishing deaths and horrifying betrayals, Season 3 will continue to deliver all the expected shocks.
