Jon Hamm Keeps it Classy with 'Mad Men' Cast on Today Show

Jon Hamm and Co. keep it classy on the Today show. He and his "Mad Men" co-stars and creator discuss the return the show for season five, their seventeen month break, and Hamm's recent comments about reality train-wreck television. He politely stands by his comments about Kim Kardashian being a "fucking idiot" and our culture rewarding her for it.

It's 1965 for Newsweek's Retro 'Mad Men' Issue, Complete with Sexist Ads

Newsweek went back to 1965 for its retro issue featuring a cover story on "Mad Men," returning to AMC March 25. The magazine's "Mad Men" story was written by Eleanor Clift, who recalls her early days at Newsweek back in the 1960s. She recalls, "Women weren’t supposed to be openly ambitious in the ’60s...

'The Walking Dead' and Women: Bring On Andrea and Michonne

For various scheduling reasons (Oscars, Sundance, SXSW), I wound up watching the final five episodes of "The Walking Dead" Season Two on Sunday, including the finale (review here). One of the things I hate about even the best reality television, from "Survivor" and "Project Runway" to "Top Chef" and "American Idol," is how poorly the women fare.

'The Walking Dead' Review: Killing Them Softly

Ever since the decision was made to keep him alive in the "Walking Dead" (rather than allow Carl to kill him as he did in the first volume of the comic), the question the writers never seemed to answer was, “What can we do with Shane?”

Netflix and MRC Hit Fincher Reality with 'House of Cards'

Surprise. In a much ballyhooed deal that was too good to be true, Netflix and MRC (Media Rights Capital) outbid HBO to stream and finance, respectively, the $100-million production "House of Cards," an American remake of the 1990 hit Brit TV series about a politician's rise to the top. Now on the verge of production, reality intervenes.

Media Watch: Netflix in Cable Talks, Epix and ABC Family Launch Streaming Apps

Digital Viewing Transition: The Rise of Netflix
Netflix is talking cable partnerships. Netflix chief executive Reed Hastings has "quietly met" with some of the largest cable companies in the U.S. according to Reuters. These meetings have prompted rumors that certain cable channels might add movie streaming to their services. It's possible, writes TechCrunch, that within the year cable subscribers could have Netflix access from their cable boxes. Cable is what Netflix needs to survive. Meanwhile, ABC Family and Epix have launched their own streaming applications for iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch users. As paidContent writes, this is in direct competition with Epix and ABC Family's distribution agreements with Netflix and Hulu. After Starz stopped supplying Netflix with titles, Epix became one of Netflix's most crucial suppliers.
