Danny Boyle is set to direct the pilot for a new comedy-drama, "Babylon," which will air next year on the UK's Channel 4. Written by BAFTA winners Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong ("Four Lions"), the would-be series takes place in the world of modern-day policing.

Boyle won praise for his handling of the 2012 London Olympic opening and closing ceremonies. His stage version of "Frankenstein" appeared on National Theatre Live in 2011, though he largely hasn't been associated with TV work for the past decade. His last big-screen venture, "Trance," hit theaters earlier this year. (Our TOH! interview with Boyle on the film is here.)
