Warner's Tsujihara Taps Dee Dee Myers as Highpowered Head of Corporate PR

Warner's chief Kevin Tsujihara has brought in his own high-powered head of corporate PR: political analyst and former White House press secretary Dee Dee Myers.

Political analyst, former White House Press Secretary and author Dee Dee Myers ("Why Woman Should Rule the World") is Warner Bros.' new head of corporate communications. 

Myers, who was press secretary (the first woman and one of the youngest ever) during the first two years of the Clinton administration (1993 to 1994), is now a political media pundit on politics, contributor at Vanity Fair (where her husband is national editor) and lecture circuit star, will relocate to LA from Washington DC. In September, she will succeed Susan Fleishman, who is leaving the studio after a tumultuous nine years which saw Kevin Tsujihara ascend to studio head over departing rivals Bruce Rosenblum (TV) and Jeff Robinov (Motion Pictures), who left behind some strong projects for the studio, including Oscar-winner "Gravity" and "The Lego Movie."

Now, clearly, Tsujihara wants a his own high-profile corporate PR leader, who will oversee the studio's corporate communications strategies and activities worldwide (media relations, executive communications, corporate responsibility and philanthropy). It is not unprecedented for political players to come to Hollywood. While Kori Bernards segued to Universal via the MPAA, and Disney's Zenia Mucha started in New York politics, Barbara Bush's press secretary Anna Perez ran CAA marketing for a time, but left Hollywood. Myers knows Hollywood's Democratic players well, consulted on "The West Wing," and appeared in the film "Contact."

In the interim, Warner Home Entertainment PR exec Jim Noonan will steer communications until Myers assumes her official post as Executive Vice President, Worldwide Corporate Communications and Public Affairs.

Born and raised in Manhattan, Anne Thompson grew up going to the Thalia and The New Yorker and wound up at grad Cinema Studies at NYU. She worked at United Artists and Film Comment before heading west as that magazine's west coast editor. She wrote for the LA Weekly, Sight and Sound, Empire, The New York Times and Entertainment Weekly before serving as West Coast Editor of Premiere. She wrote for The Washington Post, The London Observer, Wired, More, and Vanity Fair, and did staff stints at The Hollywood Reporter and Variety.
