The Unsung Hero Behind 'Argo' and 'Zero Dark Thirty' Has Two Chances to Win Oscar Night

When William Goldenberg came to talk to Sneak Previews about editing Ben Affleck's "Argo" back in October, he was still in the throes of finishing Kathryn Bigelow's "Zero Dark Thirty," on a tight deadline to deliver a final cut in November. Sunday night Goldenberg is up for not just one but two Oscars, for two very different Middle East movies, and is favored to win for best picture frontrunner "Argo."

Three Indie Summer Hits Vie for Oscars: 'Best Exotic Marigold Hotel,' 'Beasts of the Southern Wild' and 'Moonrise Kingdom'

Several indie movies are looking to make a late-year comeback on the road to the Oscars, most notably three summer hits. Fox Searchlight is pushing Brit import "Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" ($46 million domestic) as well as Sundance sweetheart "Beasts of the Southern Wild" ($11 million) and Focus Features is touting Wes Anderson's Cannes entry "Moonrise Kingdom" ($45 million). Benh Zeitlin Starts New, Untitled Louisiana-Set Film

"Beasts of the Southern Wild" director Benh Zeitlin is returning to Louisiana for his next project, centering on a strange ecosystem where the aging process is warped, and people grow old either very quickly or incredibly slowly. Reportedly Zeitlin hopes to use the same cast and production team for the currently untitled film. Fans of Quvenzhané Wallis, get excited.
