'True Detective' Director Cary Fukunaga Has Untitled War Project In the Works at Fox

Needless to say, "True Detective" director Cary Fukunaga is on a roll right now. As that eight-episode HBO series unspools with many a fervent admirer (and a few dissenters), Fukunaga has sold a six-figure pitch to Fox. The project is untitled and set during contemporary wartime; Nicole Riegel, a fellow Sundance lab alum like Fukunaga, is set to write it.

The first trailer for "Sin Nombre" and "Jane Eyre" director Cary Fukunaga's HBO drama series "True Detective," starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, has landed.

IN THE WORKS: Fukunaga, McConaughey & Harrelson Go TV with 'True Detective' plus Wahlberg's 'Partner' and Camargo's 'Seagull'

Now this is an exciting pairing: Cary Fukunaga ("Jane Eyre") will direct Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in an eight-part TV series written by Nic Pizzolatto, "True Detective." McConaughey and Harrelson will play two cops, Rust Cohle and Martin Hart, respectively, whose lives intertwine through a seventeen-year search for a Louisiana serial killer. The story spans the 1995 murder to the reopening of the case in 2012.
