Why George Clooney is Skipping Early Awards Circuit with 'The Monuments Men': See New Poster

While many Oscar pundits are picking up the message (or spin) that "The Monuments Men" is more commercial than awards-worthy, Clooney has decided that he wants to follow the high road taken by Martin Scorsese with "The Departed." The director was tired of the awards slog that he had gone through on "Gangs of New York" and "The Aviator" and decided to sit that one out. The movie won four Oscars including picture and director. Clooney should be so lucky.

The first trailer for George Clooney's latest directorial effort, "Monuments Men," has landed. The film, which centers on a small World War II platoon tasked with protecting and retrieving invaluable art stolen by the Nazis, stars a stellar cast of Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett, John Goodman, Bill Murray, Jean Dujardin, Bob Balaban, Hugh Bonneville and Clooney himself. Disney's Mysterious '1952' Clooney Project Entitled 'Tomorrowland'

Disney's top secret project, known as "1952" while in development, has been given an official title: "Tomorrowland." George Clooney is on board to star. The story was developed by director Brad Bird, Damon Lindelof and EW writer Jeff Jensen. Bird and Lindelof wrote the screenplay. Rumors have swirled about the film's subject. Is "1952" the working title for the upcoming "Star Wars: Episode VII"? Or perhaps about the founding of Disney's Imagineering division in 1952?
