In the Works: Clooney, Greengrass & Terrio Onboard for NY Crime Syndicate Drama

Producers George Clooney and Grant Heslov and screenwriter Chris Terrio are reteaming after their success with Ben Affleck's "Argo" on a currently untitled crime movie. Clooney is attached to star, and Paul Greengrass to direct and produce. Details of the film's plot are still a secret, but it reportedly is an original story centered in the New York crime syndicate world. The project is in development at Sony, where Clooney's Smoke House production banner has first look.

George Clooney shares many words of wisdom -- on fame, success, failure, etc -- In his interview for Omega's Lifetime magazine (he's a spokesman). He also talks about his upcoming "Gravity" directed by Alfonso Cuaron (he gushes over the "Children of Men" filmmaker and says co-star Sandra Bullock is "off-the-charts great"). Clooney's next directing project, the caper heist film "The Monuments Men," has a tone similar to "The Great Escape" and "Bridge Too Far."

Dujardin and Murray Join Blanchett in Clooney's World War II Eurothriller 'Monuments Men' for Sony & Fox

At the "Argo" premiere party, George Clooney was not only delighted about producing one of the year's hits, but was in the thick of preproduction on "Monuments Men," a project he plans to direct and star in. (Of course that was once true of "Argo.") He and frequent writing partner Grant Heslov are adapting the true story, as documented in Robert M. Edsel's book "The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History," which follows a special force of art lovers who help countries to steal the world's best art back from the Nazis. Such paintings as the Mona Lisa and Nightwatch were at stake. Heslov will produce.

Career Update: George Clooney To Direct New Yorker Article-Turned-Movie, 'The Yankee Comandante'

George Clooney's career continues to flourish. No surprises there. Focus Features is in negotiations for the rights to David Grann's epic New Yorker article "The Yankee Comandante" (which only published on May 28), with Clooney attached to direct. He will also serve as a producer on the film, with his Smokehouse partner Grant Heslov.
