James Cameron and his Lightstorm Entertainment producing partner Jon Landau have nabbed rights to Taylor Stevens' 2011 novel "The Informationist." Cameron is considering directing the film for 20th Century Fox, but not until after his two "Avatar" sequels which will be shot concurrently.

'MythBusters' Confronts James Cameron on Jack's Needless Death in 'Titanic'

For last few months since he released "Titanic" in 3-D, James Cameron claims he receives dozens of emails a day - quibbling that Rose is selfish, Jack is foolish, and both of them could have easily fit on the floating board and waited for rescue during the sinking of the ship. So, the director turned to the Discovery show "MythBusters" to help him with some fact-checking.

Virtual production and higher frame rate dominated the conversation at this week’s SIGGRAPH conference in LA, just as they did at FMX earlier in the year. Despite Warner Bros. scaling back on the number of screens that it will play “The Hobbit” at 48 fps on December 14...

Immersed in Movies: Talking 'The Hobbit,' Higher Frame Rates, and Virtual Production at FMX [Updated]

I'm in Stuttgart, Germany, this week for the FMX conference on animation, VFX, games, and transmedia. Not surprisingly, the emphasis at FMX is on virtual production, the hottest industry topic, thanks to the influence of "Avatar" and the lingering interest in last year's Oscar winner, "Hugo," among others.

James Cameron's 'Titanic,' Then and Now, in 3-D: "A Window Into a World"

Count on James Cameron. Looking at "Titanic" in its glorious $18-million 3-D restoration--released (also in 2-D) on the 100th anniversary of the sad night the great ship went down--I was reminded of what a huge accomplishment the picture was back in 1997.

Media Watch: No Cameron 'Prometheus' In Sight; Deadline Falls for April Fool's Prank

Beware of April Fool's announcements. (I loved FoxLA's story about drought-ridden California farmers planting marshmallow trees, below.) While plans to make an Ashton Kutcher/Steve Jobs project appear to be in earnest, Deadline's Mike Fleming did fall for a report that James Cameron wants to direct a "Prometheus" sequel.
