Check Out This Telling Chart on Women Directors at Cannes Over the Past Decade

The number of women directors who make it into the Cannes lineup is a source of yearly contention. And it makes sense. Over the past ten years, there's been virtually no consistent improvement in terms of women auteurs landing in the hallowed competition program. Un Certain Regard has gradually improved -- slightly. Jane Campion's Top Nine Films on Criterion Include 'Contempt,' 'Seven Samurai,' 'Tokyo Story' and More

Criterion has posted Jane Campion's "Top 10" list, in which she ranks her favorite titles put out by the prestigious DVD and Blu-ray company. The list includes only nine films, but among them are Jean-Luc Godard's "Contempt," Federico Fellini's "La Strada" and Yasujiro Ozu's "Tokyo Story." Full list below.

'Top of the Lake' Finale Recap: State of Emergency

Certain episodes of television stand out not only within the course of a series, but within the course of a year. In 2012, it was the eleventh episode of “Mad Men,” titled “The Other Women” (incidentally also featuring a stunning performance from Elisabeth Moss). This year, the finale of “Top of the Lake” achieves that same skin-tingling, harshly heartbreaking, core-shaking status.
