Disney Adds Another Live-Action Remake, Following Success of 'Maleficent' (Cocteau TRAILER)

Well, this was inevitable, right? 'Maleficent' stomped through the box office last weekend, netting $70 million in U.S. receipts and another $100 million abroad. When a movie brings in money like that, the studio is bound to say: more, please.

This Weekend, Jack Ryan Returns, See Indies 'G.B.F.' and 'Like Father, Like Son'

Tom Clancy's badass CIA superagent Jack Ryan returns this weekend in "Shadow Recruit," the new film by Kenneth Branagh, whose career has taken an odd turn from Shakespeare to big-budget action thrillers. In select cities arrive the moving "Like Father, Like Son," warm teen comedy "G.B.F." and "Big Bad Wolves," Tarantino's favorite film of 2013.

'Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit' Is Enjoyable Action, But Fault Lies in the Script -- Not the Stars (REVIEW AND ROUNDUP)

Reviews have arrived for Kenneth Branagh's Tom Clancy adaptation "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit," starring Chris Pine as the eponymous CIA-analyst hero. The verdict thus far is that Pine makes for an appealing (and attractive) lead, stepping into the same shoes that Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck did before him. While the action is kept at a good clip, the script falters with too many plot holes left gaping and, per Variety, "too many recycled genre parts."

Kenneth Branagh on Why Chris Pine Was the Guy to Reboot Jack Ryan

I like Chris Pine. He's a strong actor and a movie star--although his reboot of Tom Clancy's signature spy is going to be a test of his marquee value. It's one thing to join the "Star Trek" ensemble and another to carry a movie.

Who Should Direct Bond 24? Take Our Poll

Now that Sam Mendes has dropped out of directing "Bond 24," who should helm the follow-up to the billion-dollar "Skyfall"? The new MI6 table's been set with M (Ralph Fiennes), Q (Ben Whishaw), and Moneypenny (Naomie Harris), and with no more rites of passage or existential crises to deal with, Daniel Craig's 007 is now fully formed and reporting for duty "with pleasure."

'Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' Producers Release Swedish 'Wallander' In Theaters

Music Box Films isn't missing a trick. Having been the only distributor sharp enough to acquire the three-part edited-for-movies version of the original "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" series, the distributor is now releasing in theaters the first episode of the second season of the original Swedish "Wallander" TV series.
