'Django Unchained' Needed More Time; Review and Roundup

So far the critics are being kind to Quentin Tarantino's bloody Western-down-South, singing the praises of the film's stellar cast and its fierce yet disturbingly funny confrontation with the most shameful chapter of American history. Division comes concerning the film's length, with some enjoying the epic 165-minute runtime, and others finding it an overbloated self-indulgence. Review roundup below.

- The trailer for Roman Coppola's high-style comedy "A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III" (here and below) features Charlie Sheen, Bill Murray, and Jason Schwartzman sporting a major Afro. It's clear that working with Wes Anderson has had a strong influence on Coppola's second feature. - Jon Hamm is considering starring in "Epic Fail," a Kevin Costello written comedy about a high school teacher who attempts to fake some heroism by hiring two of his students to stage a kidnapping of his wife.

Tarantino Tells Playboy Who Else Was In The Running for 'Django' Before Foxx & His Horse Won the Role

Quentin Tarantino, in his interview for Playboy's December edition, discusses the actors he mulled over for the titular role in this Christmas' "Django Unchained." Tarantino's 'Reservoir Dogs' and 'Pulp Fiction' Return to Cinemas, with QT's Hand-Picked Trailers

"Reservoir Dogs"
Miramax may be releasing two of Tarantino's iconic early films, "Reservoir Dogs" and "Pulp Fiction," for one-night-only stands nationwide, but clearly the hand of Harvey Weinstein is at work. After all, Tarantino's latest, "Django Unchained," is coming December 25 and Weinstein needs to drum up some awards buzz before then. Reminding people of Tarantino's fab oeuvre is one way to do that. His eight-film special edition Blu-ray is coming up November 20. That timing is not coincidental either. (See Tarantino XX trailer below.)
