Cannes: Paramount Screens Super 8 and Puss In Boots Footage, Kung Fu Panda 2

Paramount's marketing co-chief Megan Colligan has been mulling taking advantage of the world press in attendance at Cannes for a sneak peak at J.J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg's Super 8. Now the studio has invited press to see 40 minutes of footage on Thursday, UPDATE: but it turns out that it's the same 20 minutes they showed to key press in New York and at the CinemaCon exhibitor convention in Las Vegas. Get your facts together people.

Spielberg's Lincoln Cast Grows: Day-Lewis, Field, Jones, Gordon-Levitt, Holbrook, Spader, Hawkes +

The following actors are in negotiations to join Steven Spielberg's Lincoln, in which Daniel Day-Lewis will play President Abraham Lincoln and Sally Field will play Mary Todd Lincoln: Tommy Lee Jones, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Hal Holbrook, James Spader, John Hawkes, Tim Blake Nelson, Bruce McGill, Joseph Cross, David Costabile, Byron Jennings, Dakin Matthews, Boris McGiver, Gloria Reuben, Jeremy Strong, and David Warshofsky. Details on Jones and Gordon-Levitt's roles are below. UPDATE: Lee Pace will play Fernando Wood, the NYC mayor who "supported the Confederate cause and even suggested that the city secede from the Union, if only to keep up their valuable cotton trade," says ThePlaylist. Paramount Screens Super 8 Footage in NYC, ShoWest/CinemaCon

Rumors have been rampant that Paramount was going to screen a film at next week's CinemaCon (ShoWest is no more) exhibitor convention in Las Vegas. Well, the studio screened the first 20 minutes of J.J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg's Super 8 to positive response to assorted media in New York Wednesday, and will show the same footage to theater owners, along with a 2011 sizzle reel.

At the Critics' Choice Awards: Winners Are Social Network, Inception, Firth, Portman, Leo, Bale

Paramount had a good night at the Broadcast Film Critics Associations's Critic's Choice Awards Friday night, winning three prizes for The Fighter, including best ensemble, supporting actress (Melissa Leo) and supporting actor (Christian Bale), a young actress award for Hailee Steinfeld for True Grit and doc prize for Waiting for Superman.
