'Frankenweenie' Opening BFI London Fest Along with Burton's Traveling 'Art Of' Exhibition [Video]

Tim Burton's "Frankenweenie" will go to London to open the 56th BFI London Film Festival on October 10, marking its European premiere. The opening night red carpet and screening will be broadcast live from Odeon Leicester Square to BFI IMAX as well as thirty screens in the UK.

Comic-Con is great fun if you don't have to be in Hall H. I'd skip it and watch the panels on YouTube if I didn't want to see the early footage. The Hall H security was so tight this year that even the studio PR execs were complaining about trying to get their people in. I bargained for passes for each individual studio panel..

Comic-Con is so noisy and logistically energy-draining--they're expecting 130,000 attendees this year-- that it's tempting to just watch the Hall H panel videos from afar. Isn't the "Twilight" series over already? (Actually, no, and the sad death of a fan who was struck by a car while trying to join an early "Twilight" Comic-Con line attests to that.)

Warner Bros.' trailer for Tim Burton's eighth collaboration with Johnny Depp, "Dark Shadows," had me salivating for a witty 70s romp at the movies. And the movie looks and sounds great, with a witty Danny Elfman 70s score and a strong cast. So why is the film such an enervating disappointment?
