The epic, six-minute trailer for Tom Tykwer and the Wachowskis' "Cloud Atlas," debuting at Toronto in September, is here. The adaptation of David Mitchell's novel stars -- deep breath -- Tom Hanks, Jim Sturgess, Ben Whishaw, Halle Berry, Jim Broadbent, Susan Sarandon, Hugo Weaving, Bae Doona, Zhou Xun and Hugh Grant, many of whom are in multiple roles and disguises.

Warner Bros. Bringing Epic 'Cloud Atlas' to US Theaters October 26

Lana Wachowski, Tom Tykwer, and Andy Wachowski's "Cloud Atlas" will land in US theaters October 26. Warner Bros. acquired the US, UK, France, Spain, Australia and Japan rights to the 2 hour and 44-minute film after the studio budgeted it at an unaffordable $170 million and passed on it...

Cannes Market: Wachowskis' 'Cloud Atlas' Screens for Buyers; Butler, Worthington and McConaughey Get Funded for 'Thunder Run'

As the major studios focus on big-budget FX and brand-name tentpoles, and micro-indies spread like kudzu, the middle ranks of movies are being funded and produced outside the studio system. This is good and bad. 'Cloud Atlas' screened Tuesday at Cannes.
