Cinedigm Announces Multi-Platform DOCURAMA, Simultaneous Screening Series and Streaming Service for Acclaimed Documentaries

Cinedigm announced today it will be elevating its Docurama Films independent label into a multi-platform 'DOCURAMA" brand with a series of national theatrical screening events and a streaming network service. For almost 15 years, Docurama Films has presented acclaimed documentaries, including Kirby Dick's "The Invisible War," Danfung Dennis' "Hell and Back Again," Rachel Grady and Heidi Ewing's "Detropia" and genre classics such as D.A. Pennebaker's "Don't Look Back" and Robert Drew's "Primary."

SXSW Grand Jury Winner 'Short Term 12' Goes to Cinedigm, Plans Awards Push for Brie Larson

Cinedigm has snapped up all North American and Latin American rights to Destin Daniel Cretton's SXSW Grand Jury and Audience award winner "Short Term 12," starring Brie Larson as a troubled foster care worker. The company is eyeing a late summer release, with an awards push for its star, who gives a "career-defining performance," says Vincent Scordino, VP of Cinedigm theatrical acquisitions. "'Short Term 12' is exactly the kind of film we are looking to champion as we expand our theatrical presence."

Julianne Moore's 'English Teacher' Goes to Cinedigm and Tribeca for US Distribution

Cinedigm Entertainment and Tribeca have teamed up for US distribution rights to "The English Teacher," from director Craig Zisk. This marks the director's feature directorial debut; his many TV credits include "Nurse Jackie," "Weeds," "Nip/Tuck," and "United States of Tara."

Cinedigm Takes 'Narco Cultura,' Sundance Documentary on Drug Cartels

Cinedigm has picked up North America distribution rights to Israeli photographer and filmmaker Shaul Schwarz' documentary "Narco Cultura," which premiered last week at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. The film looks at the influence of drug cartels on pop culture on both sides of the Mexican-American border, through the eyes of an L.A. narcocorrido singer and a Juarez crime scene investigator.
