Where Will You Be Watching 'Nymphomaniac' This Weekend?

It has finally come. The unrated "Volume I" of Lars von Trier's erotic opus "Nymphomaniac" arrives in 25 US theaters this Friday March 21. But you may have already seen the saucy, hotly debated, artsy sex epic on VOD, as Magnolia Pictures made the film available on March 7 on cable on demand, Amazon and a smattering of other platforms. "Volume II" hits VOD this Thursday, March 20, with theatrical release to follow April 4.

SXSW Horror Title 'Stage Fright' Goes to Magnolia's Magnet

The genre arm of Magnolia Pictures, Magnet Releasing, has acquired U.S. rights to genre film "Stage Fright," a horror/comedy/musical about "bloodthirsty gorehounds and musical theatre geeks," says rookie writer/director Jerome Sable, whose short “The Legend of Beaver Dam" cut a swath on festival circuit. "Stage Fright," which world premieres in the Midnighters section at March's SXSW Film Festival, stars Allie MacDonald and Douglas Smith, with Minnie Driver and Meat Loaf.

Sundance Buy: Magnolia Grabs CNN Ebert Doc 'Life Itself'

The Wagner/Cuban Company’s Magnolia Pictures has acquired US theatrical, VOD and home entertainment rights to "Life Itself," Steve James' heart-tugging documentary about the life of Roger Ebert. The film brought audiences to tears at January's Sundance Film Festival as they grieved the loss last year of their beloved Chicago film critic after a long battle with cancer.

Lars von Trier's 'Nymphomaniac' Gets US Release Dates from Magnolia

Magnolia has announced the stateside release dates for Lars von Trier's hotly anticipated "Nymphomaniac." It will be broken up into two films, with "Nymphomaniac Part 1" hitting theaters March 21, 2014 (and VOD March 6), and "Part 2" arriving on April 18, 2014 (and VOD April 3).

Toronto Deal: Magnolia Buys 'The Right Kind of Wrong,' Starring Ryan Kwanten

Just before its Toronto Film Festival debut next Thursday, Magnolia Pictures has acquired US rights to "The Right Kind of Wrong," a romantic comedy directed by Jeremiah Chechik ("National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation," "Benny & Joon"). "'The Right is Wrong' is a lovely, well-directed crowdpleaser, and its winning cast shines,” said Magnolia President Eamonn Bowles. “Ryan Kwanten especially shows a new side of himself that his fans will appreciate.”
