Relativity Producing Pablo Escobar Story 'Silver or Lead' with Spanish Director Enrique Urbizu

Relativity Media has taken rights to a script about the manhunt for cocaine kingpin Pablo Escobar, called "Silver or Lead." The original draft is from Michael Kane, while Piers Ashworth's screenplay will serve as the basis for director Enrique Urbizu.

Following journalist Connie Bruck's Ron Burkle profile published Monday in The New Yorker entitled "Cashier du Cinema," which depicts Relativity Media CEO Ryan Kavanaugh as an incompetent businessman (which Hollywood insiders have long suspected) who has lost control of his company to Burkle, Kavanaugh and his lawyer are protesting, calling the piece "false and malicious."

Relativity Media has acquired U.S. rights to distribute "Paranoia," a thriller starring Liam Hemsworth ("The Hunger Games"), Oscar-nominee Gary Oldman ("The Dark Knight"), Oscar-nominee Harrison Ford ("Indiana Jones") and Lucas Till ("X-Men: First Class"). Robert Luketic ("21") will direct and begin production this summer.

'Mirror Mirror' Early Review and Round-Up: Leave Princess Fairy Tales to Disney

"Mirror Mirror" means a lot to producer/distributor Relativity Media, which needs hits in order to survive. That's why the $60-million PG flick is aimed so squarely at a mainstream family audience. Visually, it looks like a movie directed by Tarsem Singh ("The Immortals"), but it doesn't feel like one. The movie will play young. Very young.
