Downtown Film Festival Los Angeles (DFFLA)'s fourth independent cinema showcase will be held July 6 through July 13. The organizers invite filmmakers to submit their features, shorts, and documentaries to the fest. Past festivals have premiered new films by Spike Lee, Barbara Kopple, features with Paul Newman, Don Cheadle, and Guy Pearce.

The Downtown Festival also pays homage to the role that downtown Los Angeles plays in the development of American cinema. In this tradition, the festival will feature a to-be-announced silent film that features L.A.
