It's not so surprising that Clint Eastwood would produce and direct (after all he sang in Paint Your Wagon). The oft-told tale of a man in decline and a woman on the rise (Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson did it last, in 1976) is always relevant. Like Annie and every other gestating remakes, it could be hit or miss. Beyonce's acting chops may be fuel for debate, but Eastwood is always capable of delivering a strong story in any genre. Below, videos of Streisand and Kristofferson singing "Evergreen" in A Star is Born, and Beyonce singing "The Way We Were" in honor of Streisand at the Kennedy Center.
Speaking of Streisand, she's supposed to star in a remake of Gypsy as Mama Rose, but she isn't directing herself, as she did with Yentl. Who has the chops to deliver this and handle La Streisand at the same time--no mean feat? Vote below.

---'Star Is Born' has been done-to-death and always goes to stars hitting middle-age and on the way out (Gaynor, Garland, Striesand). WHY's Beyonce, acting ability aside, going into this?
As for Eastwood, he's now been caught fronting for the Globalist-think/RED China 'eugenics friendly' agenda with a string of skilfully
demoralizing pictures (Milliion Dollar Baby, Mystic River, IWO trilogy etc. etc.) --and even obediently baulked his own link to the awesomely
relevant 60th Anniversary of the KOREAN WAR last year! TRUE
With 'Star' he goes from on board and soldout --to just plain routine.

Anne Hathaway should do the Natalie Wood role in "Gypsy". She would nail it easily.

I think Martin Scorsese should direct Streisand in Gypsy.

I never go to see a remake.
Been there seen that.
Remakes are just film makers
slumming.
Waste of talent (if any) and time.

Hmmm...a Director for the new Star Is Born. How about we pull Ted Kaczynski out of jail and have him direct. After all, he sure knows how to make a bomb.

They lucked out with two good versions of A Star Is Born, why take chances by trying a fourth? Admittedly, there hasn't been a good movie version of Gypsy, but isn't Streisand a bit too old to be playing Mama Rose now. no matter how much vaseline they smear on the camera?
