Nominees from The Primetime Emmy Awards are listed below. Stay tuned for updates. Landing nominations were new contenders "True Detective" (HBO, 12 noms) and Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey, who could knock each other out, as could Martin Freeman and Billy Bob Thornton of "Fargo" (FX, 18),"Silicon Valley" (HBO, 5), "Orange is the New Black" (Netflix, 12), "Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey" (Fox, 12) as well as surprise entrants Lizzy Caplan of "Masters of Sex" (FX, 5) and Ricky Gervais for Brit comedy "Derek."

Among the usual suspects, HBO's "Game of Thrones" led nominations with 19, followed by "American Horror Story: Coven" with 17 and "Breaking Bad" with 16. Movie "The Normal Heart" also scored 16. AMC's "Mad Men" scored 8. Will Jon Hamm win after ten nominations? No, it will be "Breaking Bad"'s Bryan Cranston all the way, for the final season. I'm tickled that CNN's innovative  travel/food show "Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown" is in the running with seven nominations.

Snubs include critics' fave Tatiana Maslany ("Orphan Black"), "Justified" stars Timothy Olyphant and Walton Goggins, "The Americans" stars Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys, comedienne Mindy Kaling (who was announcing the awards with Carson Daly) and "The Good Wife"'s Julianna Margulies. Criticwire posted a selection of the best Emmy reactions on Twitter--a lot of outrage that popular faves "Newsroom" and "Downton Abbey" (PBS, 12) continue to knock worthier shows out of the race.

The Emmy Awards show will be held August 25 at the Nokia Theatre in L.A. and broadcast live on NBC at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on NBC.
