We feature seven Emmy actors to watch, from Idris Elba, who has been consistently supurb in The Wire and Luther, as well as in his guest roles on The Big C and The Office (who now has Prometheus and Pacific Rim in the works), to The Killing's Mireille Enos, who has gone from unknown to Brad Pitt's wife in World War Z, currently shooting with director Marc Forster. Three Bridesmaids stars are on our list, plus two from Mad Men. Consider each below:
It's just World War Z at this point, which she is currently filming, but playing Brad Pitt's wife in this Marc Forster film based on Max Brooks' novel will surely put her on the map. You'll know her when it comes out in 2012, if not sooner. Here's some pondering on her The Killing character, Sarah Linden. The Killing trailer is below.
She's in this weekend's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, and has UK comedy The Decoy Bride in post-production with Alice Eve and David Tennant. Most exciting of all, she's set to play Dolly in Joe Wright's Anna Karenina, and is the voice behind Brave's heroine, Princess Merida (22 June 2012).
He was busy with 2010 films Thor, Takers, The Losers, and Legacy, but none of them will compare to Ridley Scott's Prometheus (8 June 2012) or Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim (12 July 2013). He also has Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (17 Feb 2012).
Here's more on Elba.
It may be brief, but you'll remember her performance in the upcoming Ryan Gosling vehicle Drive (here's our Gosling interview). At the LAFF gala screening, director Nicolas Winding Refn touted her as the perfect Wonder Woman, which she's been rumored for.
She also appears with Sarah Jessica Parker in I Don't Know How She Does It (16 September), is attached to The Bleeder with Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber, a drama inspired by heavyweight boxer Chuck Wepner from writer-director Jeff Feuerzeig, as well as The Seconds of Pleasure, written by Neil LaBute (with Julia Stiles, Brendan Fraser, Matt Dilon and Kristin Scott Thomas also attached).
He has Friends with Kids, with the likes of Bridesmaids buddies Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph, plus Megan Fox, Chris O'Dowd, Ed Burns and Jennifer Westfeldt, his partner who also wrote and directed the film (here's our Cannes interview with the couple). He's also attached to produce Dusty and the BIg Bad World, Westfeldt's adaptation of the Cusi Cram play and he will co-star with Melissa McCarthy in Dumb Jock (details below).
But really, you can just marvel at this blog. You're welcome.
She's in Judd Apatow's currently filming untitled new project, with the likes of Megan Fox, Leslie Mann, Paul Rudd, Albert Brooks and Chris O'Dowd, and is attached to a pitch with scripter Annie Mumolo about a wife who plots the theft of the Stanley Cup for her dying husband. Then there's Dumb Jock with Jon Hamm, from Bridesmaids director Paul Feig.
Who wants to be a bride when you can be a Bridesmaids star? It's working wonders for Wiig's career. She will appear in Friends with Kids, currently in post. Imogene just got the green light. Shari Springer Berman will direct from a Michelle Morgan script. ThePlaylist has the details on the dark comedy, which sounds hilarious.
She's also voicing How to Train Your Dragon 2, and also adapted Clown Girl, based on Monica Drake's novel about a down-and-out professional clown who is tempted to earn money as a prostitute for clown fetishists, which she plans to produce and star in (it's an optioned property).
Then there's Bobby Blue Sky, in which she, Paul Rudd and Topher Grace are set to star. The Emily Kapnek screenplay follows siblings dealing with the fallout of of their father's successful children's book series which are based on their baby brother.
